Twilight

This images were taken in January (yep, 2 months ago) at the back of my house. The same time I was shooting for the Cirrus cloud image if I'm not mistaken. As usual it was using my 1.3MP camera. This is during twilight (at dusk). Twilight marks the transition between day time and night time. I thought I want to capture the beauty and share it with the rest of the world. Err..eventhough the images are actually quite blurry (thanks to my low resolution camera). But whatever..Allah truly is Great.

Some interesting fact on twilight:

• It is refer to as "blue hour" by photographer or painter due to the quality of light at the time.
• Twilight on Mars is longer than Earth (last up to 2 hours)
• It is sacred in Hinduism where many rituals are held.
• It is called 'cow dust time' in Hindi.

He created the heavens and the earth truthfully. He rolls the night over the day, and rolls the day over the night.* He committed the sun and the moon, each running for a finite period. Absolutely, He is the Almighty, the Forgiving. (Az-Zumar, 39:5)

Horseshoe Crab

So last month when I was doing some course project at the nearby beach, I get to see horseshoe crabs which was released by some of the final year students there. They're using them for a final year project earlier. This is my first time seeing an alive one, so I was very excited. I'd like to share some info on horseshoe crab with all of you,

Kingdom: Animalia.

Phylum: Arthropoda (joint-legged animals)

Class: Merostomata (mouth surrounded by legs)

Order: Xiphosurida (sword-tailed animals)

Famili: Limulidae (from Latin Limulus: somewhat odd, oblique)

Interesting Facts on Horseshoe Crab:

• They have blue blood.
• One of the primitive animals that haven't extinct.
• Earliest fossils found are 45 million years old. 
• Has changed remarkably little in the last 250 million years.
• Reach sexual maturity between 9 to 12 years of age.
• The female can lay between 2-30 thousand eggs during spawning season.

the Cirrus cloud

 

This is a picture of Cirrocumulus cloud which I caught during twilight at the back of my house. A few information regarding this cloud,

Type : High cloud (Family A)

Name : Cirrocumulus (It's Latin; Cirrus means curl of hair, cumulus means heaped)

Characteristics : Small, high, patched clouds.

Date taken : 21st January 2011

Time : 7.55pm

Camera resolution : 1.3 MP

  

Snail.

So, one day I was feeding the cats through the back door of my house. And I spotted a snail attached to the wall. Then I decided to take a snapshot. This photo is taken using my 1.3MP camera (very low resolution) during a hot sunny day. So, it explains the brightness of the photo. A little bit information about snail..

Phylum: Mollusca (soft-bodied organism)
Class: Gastropoda (stomach foot)
Common name: Snail.

Healing process..

I just want to share the photo I took of how a blister gone through the healing process. By the way, I got this blister because of hot oil spatter while I was frying something (I don't remember). Yeah, I'm a lousy cook. If you realize, all the blister become dry and turn brownish towards the end of the healing process.

How a hungry dog saves a prostitute..

A picture of wild cats (not really cause most of them are my neighbours pet cats). Seeing them made me think of a hadith of Prophet Muhammad pbuh that says about a prostitute that is forgived by Allah because she gave food to a hungry dog. Moral of the lesson: Be good to animals. Allah permit, maybe you'll be saved from the hellfire due to your charity towards animal.
