German football teams marked the events of 7 October with some slightly strange messages of solidarity with the Israeli victims. Strange because it seems many of the teams copied and pasted their statements from a press release. Even stranger when it transpires that pretty much all the big German clubs are signed up to the same 2 marketing agencies. Today, marketing agencies often manage teams’ social media accounts, and the 2 that are likely behind the 7 October messages are giants in the sporting world with portfolios including FIFA, the Premier League and the Olympics.
